Note to self
I must learn to drive. Come on, this is getting ridiculous now. If nothing else I'm spending a fortune on Taxis for home visits.

I've just ordered the Theory test book from Amazon so that's a start.

When I get home I must:
  • Find my provisional license (is there a time limit on those things?)
  • Book a lesson

Feel free to pester me about this. Yes azicrow, that includes you too.

*coughs* Get ready for the I told you so. *grins*

you gonna go with your uncle or an agency?

Umm I think there is a time limit but I don't think it should've run out by now.
    Maria: betty - seriously?ria_kukalaka on August 29th, 2008 09:32 am (UTC)
No someone new I think. Any ideas? Those people you learnt with don't do it anymore do they?

I hope I haven't ran out - it has been like 5 years. I'll try and find out.

They do, the woman who I worked with is a midwife now, she was training whilst I worked with her but her husband is really nice. I did my pass plus with him and even mum felt comfortable with him on her practice tests so they're pretty good. I'll give you the number. They have a few other drivers but I've not met them.

Driving licences expire on your seventieth birthday -- I'm pretty sure that your provisional is good until then :-). I seem to remember that these days you're on a 2 year limit once you pass the theory test to get the full driving licence.

    Ah cool, thanks :)

I already did my theory test once, but then missed the 2 year window. I think they've changed it to 6 months now though! So I think i'll leave that until just before I'm ready to take a practical test.

I think technically the provisional licences run 'til your 70 but I think practically they expire after 10 years. Possibly.

I'm going to pester too. PESTER PESTER PESTER.

I left taking my test really late too, to I'm not really one to talk, but maaaaan the freedom is a beatiful, wonderful thing. I re-did my theory and they added that whole hazard-perception thing to it, confused the living hell out of me, that did o_o.

Good luck chucks, I know you can do it!

*pester pester pester cuddle cuddle cuddle pester*

there, that should do it! :P

But I'm not really allowed considering I've never gotten my license, even a provisional one (which I think we call a learner's permit?) So I've no room AT ALL to talk :P

But yaaaaay you shall get one and it shall inspire me and I shall one day perhaps maybe but probably not get one myself :D

Good job on the pestering though :D

how does the whole driving license thing work in the UK? cause here in Austria it's insanely expensive, you have to sign up for both theory and practical classes and the people who decide whether you've passed your practical test are usually so biased that passing hardly ever has anything to do with one's actual ability to drive.

I'm actually rather glad that I got it over with at 18, when my parents would still pay for it.

It's pretty expensive here too. A one hour lesson costs about £22. You have to pay to take the tests too but i can't remember how much that is.

    Damn I still haven't booked a lesson!
