So I thought I'd print out just a couple of fics for the flight - 17 hours - then I thought I'd probably need a few more, 'cause well 17 hours and then I realised I should have some for the trip back. Anyway I've just printed 18 really long fics, including the whole of Dr. Jackson's Diary at over 500 pages.

Altogether they weigh more than our 'holy grail' textbook which I decided not to take 'cause it's too heavy and I have a whole load of other crap. Hmmmmm.

Also V for Vendetta - much, much better than I expected.

I was going to ask if this was the trip to Malaysia and then I saw the tag! So are you hanging out mostly in KL or travelling around? I know that you mentioned this trip ages ago in your LJ but the details escape me at the moment!

I hate long flights, having flown to Europe... I always sleep when they show the movies or serve the food, am wide awake during the night when everyone's asleep... and generally get bored shitless! Good idea to bring some reading material.

Also, it's gonna be really hot in M'sia so I assume you'll be changing clothes in the plane or stripping off the winterish gear?

Mostly KL, that's where the hospital is based but we plan on looking around a few other places too. And maybe fly to Singapore for a couple of days time permitting. :D I'm very excited! :D

I can never sleep on planes but yep I have fic and podfics on my mp3 player and H2G2 on tape plus one of my best friends and person to write slash with, so i'm hoping it'll be okay :D

I was going to dress in layers, actually it's a pretty thin jacket. I'm braving the cold whilst we're here :D

May I ask which hospital this is (not that I would know...) I was born in Malaysia but haven't been there much since I left except for one week last year.

I'm just gonna say now, the shopping is fantastic if you fit into those tiny Asian sizes. I didn't really fit into the tops, but the bottoms were great as I'm fairly short. Also good for shoes if you have smallish feet :D

Oh Singapore is ok - not much to do but shop but I lived there for 2 years and worked in a hospital.

Is this part of your internship - are you based with any particular department or will it be doing a couple of rounds in various departments? How long are you there for?

Sorry for the questions - I'm so curious!

Well, I always sleep in planes - I'm one of those people who can sleep! It will definitely be hot in M'sia and extremely humid.

Really hope you have lotsa fun - and if you get the chance to log on, they have internet cafes but I don't know if the cafes have broadband or ADSL - let us know how you're going!

BTW, love that banner you have of the two boys. I recently installed a Radek header as one of my rotating pics. :D

Not at all, questions are good, feel free to ask away.

The hospital - Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan - it's attached to the univerity and is apparently near the centre-ish (unless my map reading skills are seriously messed up *g*). Nope, unfortunately not internship, i'm still a med student. *sighs* So it's an elective. We have to compare the health care system from a different country. I'm going to be spending most of it doing Internal Medicine so that covers the core topics like cardiology, respiratory, GI and neurology. There for 5 weeks in total, should have been 8 but we had communication problems with the hospital. *rolls eyes*

I'm not tiny enough to fit into any of that stuff but i think shopping will still be fun for the experience of it. :D

Thanks, and if I dont have a chance whilst I'm there, you'll all certainly be bored to death with details when I get back. *g*

Yeah I love your rotating banner :)

Cool bananas... I reckon you will really get an insight into the healthcare/medical system there. Actually I for one would be extremely interested to hear your thoughts!

I know that whenever I try to do any thing that involves paperwork etc, the beauracracy shits me! I'm not surprised that the hospital has communication problems.

I think I know where your hospital is - It's the International University Hospital and the road where it is is packed with traffic a lot! Oh I should warn you - traffic there sucks!

Regarding shopping, the exchange rate should be favourable and you will find it fun to do stuff like even getting your hair cute or styled straight or conditioned. And don't forget manis or pedis. I mean dead cheap relative to the UK pound. I know that I indulged in it when I was there!

Oh and shops open up till 10pm every night!

When are you leaving?
Mariaria_kukalaka on March 24th, 2006 06:28 pm (UTC)
Yeah, I'd heard about insane traffic. Oh well we'll probably be using public transport most of the time.

Woohoo! Shops open til 10pm! That's great :D

Leaving the house about 5am tommorow morning, flight is at 10am :D
