Just spent the weekend (a slightly extended weekend *g*) in Penang, one of the Malaysian islands.

Friday was spent mainly just being completely lazy on the beach (Batu Ferrenghi). But I tried paragliding and jetskiing for the first time. Both were very, very cool. Paragliding was pretty scary for the first 30 secs or so as you're going up. But actually being in the sky is pretty serene. It's high enough that you can't hear anything from the beach so it's just birds. And the sea looks really pretty from up there. Jet skiing was totally different. It was just fun. The instructor made me start slow but I managed to ditch him after a few minutes and then 'experimented' with the accelerator. *vbg* It can go up to 15 knots, which I'm sure someone will be able to transform into some units that make sense to me? Oh I also learned to drive a speed boat. The guy said -"Oh don't worry, it's just like driving a car." Umm I think I forgot to mention I can't drive. Opps. It wasn't that difficult though and I drove (with a little supervision) to a more private area of the beach about 15 mins away where we sat and enjoyed our drinks! Not the nicest beach I've ever been to, but definetly the most fun :D In the evening the place transforms into a night market so YAY - more shopping. Oh it also has the nicest restuarants. So we ate a delicious and huge lunch AND dinner. I spent a lot of money that day!

Sat - we were totally exhausted, surprisingly enough. But we did a tour of the city (Georgetown, where we were staying) and the island itself. In the evening we went up Penang Hill - 830 metres above sea level on a tram which felt like it was going to fall to pieces. LOL.

Sun - We took a Ferry to Langkawi island, about 3 hours North of Penang. Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. We took a cable car ride up the mountain. This was only 700m up but the view was absolutely gorgeous. White beachs. Waterfalls. All the other inslands in the distance. I cant think of the words to describe it! We also went to the Underwater world - that was cool. I squeed far more than is normal over the Penguins. LOL :D Oh but we were told we'd be back for 7.30pm but the ferry arrived in Penang at 8.55. Which was pretty scary since our flight back to KL was at 10.00. So we panicked a whole load, got told off by scary (well meaning but way over-protective woman at hotel) and paid faaaar too much for a taxi. Thankfully, this being AirAsia, they were late so we made it in time. Actually had enough time for a Nandos meal. :D

Only 5 more days to go. Back home on Sat morning. :D

Ooh, sounds like lots of fun!

I went to Penang eons ago when I was little but Langkawi within the last 10 years. It was nice and undeveloped back then but I remember the nice beaches and nice resorts.

Glad you're having fun but uh, have you done any work? :D

LOL :D We have actually been working most of the week. Which I think is far more than most people do. *g* I'm still surprised at how similar it is to over here, medically speaking. It's financed slightly different but it still seems fair and to work, unlike the American system :)
